That was until I stumbled over the start of the move Marie Antoinette which feature none other than Gang of Four who I’ll no doubt blog about shortly seeing I’m doing stream of consciousness.

Midway through the movie, the characters end up at a ball in an orchestral version of Siouxsie and the Banshees starts up merging into the real version part way.

Rather than try to explain it, here’s a sample:

As I mentioned recently, Iggy is having another comeback in New Zealand courtesy of Orcon and a remake of The Passenger.

It’s a nice use of marketing, social media, and an aging proto-punk and works a hell of a lot better than I would have expected.  For example, the campaign closely links with Facebook.

Here’s one of his earlier comebacks – not only did the song put Iggy back into circulation when it first came out in 1977 but its use in the Trainspotting movie did the same almost 20 years later.

Still, punk took root among BA and art students and others who were happy to challenge the sheep-like (boom boom) mentality at the time.

It was a time when straight jeans, a spiky hair cut, and a white t-shirt was enough to cause shock on provincial streets.

Can’t find Megatron anywhere – it had a brilliant verse that reflected the fact that growing up in the 1960′s and 1970′s the spectre of nuclear war still hang around:

It had only taken 30 years but it was worth it.

I had a quick search for Buzzcocks references on WordPress and came across a couple of blogs:

• Some plonker with his song of the day who thought the person who wrote Ever Fallen in Love was the one who sung it on the movie Shrek 2 – really!

Funny how the left can have all the good music but all the dumb ideas.

Anyway, I was never a fan of the Specials at the time … and now I wonder why!!

For some reason, the Specials were known as the Specials AKA (which of course doesn’t make sense but it was still a distinctive name!)
